The Evart Public Schools board approved a recommendation to contract with two virtual providers for the 2026–27 school year: the Virtual Learning Network (VLN) and Subject AI.
The approved package includes the purchase of 10 VLN seat licenses for K–5 programming at a cost of $29,250, and a suite of secondary services from Subject AI — including full‑time seat licensing for secondary students, credit‑recovery services and courses for individual original credit — at a cost of $78,900. Board members and staff said the district selected both providers because Subject AI does not offer K–5 curriculum; VLN will continue to provide elementary virtual options while Subject AI focuses on grades 6–12 and credit recovery.
Administration reported that a stakeholder meeting of about a dozen people had been held with homeschool and interested families, and that the district plans parent outreach to explain the virtual options. The board approved the recommendation by voice vote.
The contracts are intended to provide an integrated virtual offering for families seeking online instruction and to support secondary coursework and credit recovery. The administration will complete procurement paperwork and implement the seat licensing for the 2026–27 school year.
