District showcases RISE program, frames iPads as creation tools and outlines AI guidance

"The iPad is the best tool for our students in this district right now. It is a creation device," the integrationist said.
Staff described the RISE program (Reflect, Innovate, Support, Empower) as a multi‑year teacher development initiative: year one focuses on classroom application, year two deepens instructional practice, and year three centers on leadership where teachers mentor peers. The district also runs a STEAM roadshow that pairs student activities with on‑the‑job professional learning for teachers.
On artificial intelligence, the integrationist said the district has blocked chatbots on its network and is cautious about student exposure to services that collect personal data. "We're concerned about students giving away personal information...so we're concerned about that," the speaker said, noting plans to add AI literacy components to the digital citizenship curriculum and to offer parent events about safe and purposeful use.
Administrators said they will continue teacher training and expand parent resources next year; the district plans to submit an Apple Distinguished School application this fall for a school that demonstrated "innovation, professional growth and student success."
