Officials report progress, large donation and intake figures for Trenton Dade Animal Center

The Trenton Dade Animal Center is moving forward with interior work and has received substantial community support, county officials said at the monthly meeting.
Commissioner Bob Woods reported that heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, electrical and plumbing work and interior walls are in progress at the facility behind the transfer station. He told commissioners the center received a recent donation of 21,000 pounds of dog food and that donations have covered food needs for the past two years.
Woods shared operational statistics: total intake in April was 142 animals with 113 "outcomes" (adoptions, transfers or other dispositions) for that month; in May to date the center had 41 outcomes. The center completed 90 spay and neuter procedures in the reporting period. Woods also said staff and volunteers are pursuing fundraising and outreach; Manda Wooten will hold a fundraiser to raise awareness and support for the building and services.
Officials encouraged residents to attend advisory-group meetings and volunteer. No motions or formal board actions related to the animal center were recorded in the meeting minutes.
