Dade County approves financial report and consent agenda, clears ambulance lease purchases

Dade County commissioners on their regular May meeting unanimously approved the county’s financial report and a consent agenda that included steps to negotiate an EMS contract and to lease two new ambulances.

Rebecca Jones, the county chief financial officer, told the board the year-to-date revenues as of March 31, 2026, were about $13.38 million and that year-to-date tax collections stood at 94.01%. "The percentage collected as of March 31, 2026 was 94.01%," Jones said during her report. Commissioners voted to accept the financial report after a motion by Commissioner Woods and a second from Commissioner Bradford.

Under the consent agenda the clerk read several items the board approved by unanimous vote: authorization to proceed with negotiations on RFP 2026-05 (the Day County EMS zone emergency ambulance-service procurement), Resolution R-27-26 donating a 1988 Chevrolet C6500 surplus vehicle from New Salem Fire Department to Tri County Community Fire Department, renewal of a radio communications tower lease with the Georgia Forestry Commission (R-28-26), and two ambulance-related contracts. Resolution R-29-26 approved a lease-purchase agreement for two Frazer ambulances with Lease One Magnolia LLC for $635,892 at a fixed 4.37% rate; Resolution R-30-26 approved purchase of ambulance equipment from Striker Medical for $161,936.90.

The board recorded roll-call votes with Dr. Polland, Mr. Woods, Mrs. Bradford and the chair voting yes on both the financial report and the consent agenda. No member voted against or abstained.

Officials said negotiating the EMS contract and moving forward on ambulance replacements responds to ongoing EMS needs in the county; specific vendor contracts and financing documents will be available once finalized through the county commission office. The board adjourned shortly before 8 p.m.
