Clerk and commissioners noted roughly $93,340 in prior security-update or carryover funds the sheriff intended to reallocate toward the project; that reallocation reduces the immediate general-fund ask, but commissioners said the Joint Powers board must vote on any multi-jurisdictional expenditure. "This equipment services the entire building so it should be a Joint Powers issue," one commissioner said.
The board requested staff to coordinate with city officials and the Joint Powers board, confirm the precise split and accounting treatment, and ensure any funds budgeted as placeholders are traceable to the Joint Powers vote. No final payment authorization occurred at the work session; commissioners favored budgeting the county share so the county can respond if the Joint Powers board approves the project.
