Public comment and department updates at the March 9 Carrolton Village Council meeting included questions about a regional data center and operational concerns from the fire chief.
Resident Dana Aston asked council about a data center; councilors redirected her to bring the matter to the Carroll County Commissioners. Fire Chief Shane Thomas told council a power pole needs moving to accommodate a ladder truck the department expects to receive by the end of May or the first week of June and asked how much the railroad charges for a permit to work at the site.
Council member Locke said he had received complaints about the condition of railroad tracks in certain village areas. Council member Tangler said she had heard positive comments about removing fluoride from the village water system. Village Administrator Chris Kiehl said he would call the railroad to follow up on the pole and permit concerns.
No formal vote or permit decision was recorded in the minutes; follow-up was assigned to the village administrator.
