At its May 11 meeting the DeKalb City Council confirmed several routine items: the appointment of Kathy Murray to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a five-year term ending Dec. 31, 2030; unanimous approval of the consent agenda, which included meeting minutes and accounts payable; and approval of Resolution 2026-053 authorizing an agreement with the DeKalb Corn Classic organizers and the Kishwaki Sunrise Rotary Club for the Sept. 27, 2026 event.
City staff described the Corn Classic agreement as typical of prior years, noting co-sponsors manage course logistics and procure appropriate licenses; organizers requested a waiver of fees and staff recommended approval. "The agreement that's before you tonight is typical of the agreements we've had in the past," the city manager said.
Votes: Roll call for the appointment and consent agenda recorded unanimous votes in favor. Resolution 2026-053 passed after a short presentation and roll-call vote.
Next steps: Staff will continue event coordination with organizers and process permits and any necessary license requests.
