Officials outline Sheldon Bridge and stadium site infrastructure work, Brookpark Road resurfacing

City Engineer Ed Piafchak told council that final design for the Sheldon Bridge project is wrapping up and the city will begin right‑of‑way negotiations for four parcels, including combinations of temporary easements and permanent takes needed for grading. He said a plat will come to planning commission and then council to approve donation of a city‑owned parcel needed for the project.
Piafchak also described design work on the Brookpark Road resurfacing project (between Rocky River Drive and West 130th), noting the project includes small portions of Cleveland and Parma and that coordination is ongoing with those cities and ODOT; he said ODOT urban paving funds have been allocated for that work.
Regarding the stadium and mixed‑use property, Piafchak said city staff have ongoing meetings with NOACA, ODOT, Cleveland Water and the sewer district on roadway and utility improvements and that the developer has submitted a draft stormwater report under review. Mayor Ocker earlier praised the recent groundbreaking for the Huntington Bank field site and thanked staff and council for coordination.
What happens next: right‑of‑way negotiations for Sheldon Bridge will begin later this week; planning and council will consider the needed plat and property actions; design and coordination for resurfacing and stadium utilities will continue in collaboration with regional agencies.
