Council advances ordinance to auction surplus IT equipment to April 21 agenda; mayor lists items

At the April 14 Brookpark caucus, Councilman Scott, chair of the finance committee, introduced an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with govdeals.com to auction miscellaneous computer equipment and to declare an emergency.
Mayor Orcutt described Exhibit A (page 1) as containing “3 monitors, 3 micro PCs, 5 towers, 2 additional monitors, 4 switches, 1 firewall, 1 printer, and 1 access point,” and said page 2 lists miscellaneous equipment to be discarded. He described the item as a housekeeping matter and opened the floor for questions.
Councilman Poindexter told the public he was satisfied there was no sensitive information remaining on the machines. Mayor Orcutt confirmed that the city uses TCC to handle equipment wiping and disposal.
Following discussion, Councilman Poindexter moved and Councilman McCorkle supported placing the ordinance on the April 21 council agenda under first reading. The clerk called the roll and the motion carried 7–0.
The item will appear on the April 21 council meeting under letter M for first reading.
