Utility Director Mark presented a tabulation of three bids received for the project and recommended awarding the contract to A+ Professor of Plumbing. "Sealed bids were received publicly and read out loud ... a total of three bids were received," he said.
During the meeting a council member moved to award the bid to A+ Professor of Plumbing, Inc.; another member seconded the motion and the council voted in favor. The presiding officer announced the motion passed unanimously.
The contractor was identified in the packet as A+ Professor of Plumbing, Inc.; the bid amount recorded in the meeting packet and read into the record appears in the transcript in a garbled numeric form. City staff should be contacted for the official contract amount and to confirm the bidder's local presence and licensing status.
The council did ask where the bidder was based; staff said the firm is out of Tyler and that other bidders included firms from Mount Vernon and an additional city. The council directed award and no conditions or additional amendments were recorded on the floor at the time of the vote.
