CFISD names two new elementary principals and honors students, partners and FFA award recipient

The Cypress‑Fairbanks Independent School District on May 11 introduced two campus leaders and used its regular meeting to recognize community partners and student achievements.
Erica Good was introduced as the new principal of Samson Elementary for the 2026–27 school year. District presenters summarized Good’s 17‑year career in CFISD roles including classroom teacher, instructional specialist and director of instruction; Good thanked district leadership and emphasized her commitment to Samson students and families.
Jennifer Swallow was introduced as Walker Elementary’s incoming principal. Swallow reviewed her 31 years in public education, thanked mentors and family in the audience and said she looked forward to serving the Walker community.
The board honored Spark Park for donating playground and park improvements to CFISD campuses. Don Tryion said Spark’s School Park program has contributed roughly $200,000 or more per campus and more than $1.4 million districtwide to build playgrounds and neighborhood parks that serve students during the day and families after hours.
Mark Williams recognized the district’s 2026 CFISD livestock show grand and reserve champions and named Gerard & Company Inc. (Mike and Darlene Gerard) as the volume buyer, noting the family’s long‑running support of agriculture programs. During the recognition Williams encouraged attendance at the 33rd annual livestock show and sale scheduled for Feb. 4–6, 2027.
The board unveiled a new district FFA award named for Debbie Blackshere and announced Galvin (Gavin) Moreno of Cy‑Fair High School as the first recipient. Speakers described Blackshere’s decades of service and her impact on students and the district’s FFA programs.
What happens next: The principals assume their assignments for the 2026–27 school year as scheduled; the district continues partnership and recognition activities, and the livestock show organizers have dated the 2027 event for early February.
