Lincoln Heights council updates: Memorial Day plans, Wi‑Fi grant and special meeting timing

On Memorial Day, speakers said the village will hold a celebration at the Lincoln Heights Municipal Building on Sunday, May 24 at 2:30 p.m., with speakers, refreshments and cleaning of monuments as part of the preparations. Staff and members noted program details are still being finalized with a consultant and that additional information will be sent to residents once confirmed. Richard Heden was mentioned in remarks as having led the Memorial Day effort for many years.
Village Manager Gaines Brown told the committee the village has applied to Hamilton County’s economic impact program for funds to support phase two of a municipal Wi‑Fi project. If awarded, the funds would help extend Wi‑Fi along Lindy and at the Memorial Field Athletic Complex so vendors and event organizers have adequate bandwidth for transactions and services. Staff said the county is undergoing internal restructuring, so the village had not yet received a decision.
Because the meeting did not have a full council quorum (two members were excused), members discussed holding a special meeting later in the week—tentatively Thursday at 5:30 p.m.—to vote on pending resolutions R44 and R45. Staff (Miss Lisa Randolph) was asked to poll council members by email to confirm availability.
Council members also asked staff to share details about a May 30 Urban League Young Professionals event at which the village manager was being recognized, and staff agreed to circulate location and attendance details by email.
