The Village of Lincoln Heights’ village manager presented resolution 2026R-44 on May 11, saying the village has been awarded a $25,000 community-based events grant from Hamilton County to support the municipality’s 80th incorporation anniversary celebration in September.
"The resolution before you, 2026R-44, is specifically for us to accept the monies that have been awarded to us in a grant from Hamilton County's community-based events grant. And this is for $25,000," Village Manager Gaines Brown said, adding the money will be included in the village budget for anniversary expenditures.
Council members pressed staff for timing details. One member asked whether there was a deadline to accept R44; staff responded that no firm deadline was noted in the packet but that accepting the grant sooner would allow the village to begin planning and spending the funds. Members also discussed the resolution’s emergency clause: because R44 has not yet gone through committee, an emergency clause is included, a procedural detail that would allow earlier council action if the council chooses to vote on it at a future meeting.
No vote was recorded on R44 at the Committee of the Whole meeting because Mayor Tanya Key and Councilwoman Sita Brown were excused for bereavement and the meeting lacked a full council quorum. The council discussed calling a special meeting, tentatively Thursday at 5:30 p.m., to consider outstanding legislation.
The manager said staff will return with finalized details for the anniversary program and the council will be notified through the village’s communications channels once plans are solidified.
