Marshall County rescue squad reports 16 calls, 254 volunteer hours in first quarter

Curtner said rescue-squad personnel also completed more than 111 hours of training during the quarter and that new sonar units have been installed on the squad’s response boats. He described equipment condition as generally sound, thanked the community for spring-fundraiser support and said staff plan to pursue upcoming grant opportunities to address identified needs.
During questions, a commissioner clarified the rescue squad is not a taxing district and that the fiscal court provides some facility and bill support but depends on donations and fundraising. Curtner reiterated the squad’s reliance on community donations and thanked residents for their support.
No formal action was taken following the update; Curtner invited questions and indicated he would coordinate with the squad on grant priorities.
