The Marshall County Fiscal Court convened a special called meeting May 7 and completed a range of routine administrative actions, approving a budget amendment and multiple procurement and grant items.
On second reading the court adopted Ordinance 20263, amending the FY 2025–26 annual budget to increase revenue and expenditures by $145,286. "An ordinance relating to the annual budget and amendment thereof ... increase revenue accounts in the total of $145,286," a court reader stated during the second-reading presentation before the court voted to adopt the amendment.
The court accepted annual bids for culverts, salt, asphalt, rock and striping and later denied a lone oil-and-fuel bid, instructing staff to advertise a rebid. Commissioners noted concerns about declining road-aid funding and the potential impact on paving plans during discussion of the county road aid agreement and resolution; the agreement was approved and signed by the court.
The court also voted to approve submitting a Federal Land Access Program project application for Happy Hollow; staff clarified that if the application is awarded the funding would come through the county and would cover eligible project costs.
Several personnel changes, wage adjustments and terminations across the sheriff’s office, jail, parks and road departments were read into the record. The court approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to multiple local fire district boards and handled appropriation transfers including a transient tax transfer of $22,395.20 and related bank transfers. The court also authorized payment of bills and scheduled the rescheduled May meeting for May 26 at 8:00 a.m.
The court recessed for a public hearing at 9:30 a.m. and later returned; following the hearing it moved to an executive session to discuss litigation and personnel under KRS 61.810 and then adjourned.
