Buckfield Select Board countersigns RSU 10 budget-referendum warrant; notes new advisory question

The board said question one will include the dollar amount for the upcoming RSU 10 budget; the meeting record shows a newly added question two described during the discussion as a nonbinding advisory measure to gather voter feedback on why budgets have been turned down in the past. A Select Board member described question two as an effort to "collect data on why it turned down essentially."
During discussion some members observed the warrant format looks different from past years because the nonbinding question does not list a dollar amount. The Select Board moved, seconded and voted unanimously to countersign the warrant and place the two-question referendum on the ballot. The board did not take further action on the budget amount itself; that content will appear under question one on the referendum materials.
