Recruitment report: Bossier Parish programs grow and Reach University graduates recognized

Dr. Tracy Burrell, supervisor of recruitment and retention, told the Bossier Parish School Board on May 7 that the district’s recruitment pipelines are strengthening and highlighted several program results.
"Our Boer aspiring mister program grew again this year, moved from 88 members to 93 members," Burrell said, noting the program’s participants will advance to state and national competitions. She also said two Bossier students were selected for a new Louisiana Department of Education initiative to build leadership capacity among high school juniors who aspire to be teachers.
Burrell and program partners recognized Reach University graduates — adult learners who completed bachelor’s degrees through a flexible pathway — and reported that 32 paraprofessionals moved into teaching positions, 40 are currently enrolled in Reach University, and 32 individuals completed bachelor’s degrees through the institution this year. Benjamin Williamson of Reach University joined Burrell for presentations and the board recognized graduates by name.
Burrell framed the updates as part of a district strategy to build a pipeline of future teachers and leaders. The presentation concluded without a formal vote; the report was accepted as part of the meeting’s presentations and recognitions segment.
