Bossier Parish names new administrators at Benton and district offices

The Bossier Parish School Board on May 7 recognized three newly appointed administrators, highlighting internal promotions and leadership experience.
Superintendent Roland introduced Jennifer Burrus as the district’s new HR supervisor of personnel evaluation, noting her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from LSU Shreveport and a 25-year career that included 13 years in the classroom and five years as principal of Benton Intermediate. "I look forward to this next chapter though working under Tanya Hillburn," Burrus said, thanking the board and her Benton Intermediate colleagues for their support.
The board also welcomed Kristen Massura as principal at Benton Intermediate. Massura described joining the Benton community as "exciting" and thanked mentors and family for their support, saying she aimed to continue the school’s culture of student-centered work.
John McKenzie was introduced as assistant principal at Benton High School. McKenzie, an eighth-grade math and algebra teacher with more than 20 years of classroom experience, said he was honored to serve and thanked mentors and his family.
Board members offered applause and formal recognition during the meeting; there were no contested motions tied to the recognitions, which were presented as part of the meeting’s recognitions and presentations segment. The board moved on to other agenda business after the introductions.
