Committee told no policy exists on AI note‑taking; staff can use tools until council acts

George told the Pfizer committee he searched for a policy on AI note-taking and found none, and he said that until the council adopts a policy, individuals may use AI tools in meetings.
"I learned there isn't a policy. So, I wanted to let all of you know that there isn't a policy with regards to AI note taking," George told the committee. He said he would stop raising the issue publicly but wanted everyone to know the current status.
Committee members discussed whether that approach should be coordinated across other policy committees and who had previously used AI note-taking at city meetings. Staff said they would follow up to confirm which outside participants had used AI tools and to coordinate any future policy work the council might undertake.
No formal policy or vote resulted from the discussion; members asked staff to note the current permissive status and suggested bringing a formal policy back for consideration if concerns arise.
