The meeting opened with a series of recognitions for teachers and students. Board members recognized teachers who achieved National Board Certification and those completing maintenance of certification. Joanne Wilson (Liberty Middle School) and Heather Hope (Victory Elementary) were named among finalists; Mr. Greg Phillips (Robert Cabird/RCB High School) was announced as the 2025 Harrison County Teacher of the Year.
Service personnel of the year was named (Kelly Clark, autism mentor and early childhood specialist), and the district highlighted student accomplishments in the stock market game, math field day (including regional and state placings), skills competitions, swimming (Emma Ahmed), and state social studies winners (teams and individuals across Bridgeport Middle, RCB and South Harrison Middle).
Board members directed applause and gave brief remarks recognizing the work of staff and the contributions of sponsors and community groups that support student achievement. The superintendent and board noted the events occurred during staff appreciation week and thanked schools and sponsors for scholarship support.
