Commissioners told United Aggregates is operating within 42 feet of trail; waiver and easement issues to be considered next week

During the Park District update, Director Dave Whiteigh House told the commissioners that United Aggregates contacted the board about a gravel pit near Millerberg Road and Danville. "They are not allowed to be within 50 foot of the trail ... and they're at 42 feet," Whiteigh House said, adding that United Aggregates provided a waiver the commissioners are expected to consider the following week.
Whiteigh House described the company as cooperative and helpful to the Woodlands project and said the current working area would be reclaimed to restore the required setback. He told commissioners he wanted them to be aware of the situation before they consider the waiver.
Separately, Whiteigh House summarized discussions about an easement request involving landowners Rodney New and Chase Cochran. He said commissioners appear inclined to grant a single 60-foot easement over an existing path that had been omitted when the trail was installed to ensure property access, but that the board prefers to avoid adding multiple new crossings across the trail because of safety and future development concerns. He said property owners would likely need to pay for required surveys.
No formal vote on the waiver or the easement was recorded in the meeting; Whiteigh House said commissioners will consider action next week.
