Council approves changes to downtown parking advisory committee membership and quorum

Councilor Leonard presented Ordinance 26-150, proposing changes to membership, election of officers, and quorum rules for the downtown parking advisory committee to prevent the committee from becoming unable to meet when the appointed councilor chair is absent.
Leonard said the committee will function better if an at-large resident replaces the council-appointed chair and the councilor serves only as a liaison. 'This is going to be very helpful to the committee members so that they don't ever have to worry about the schedule of just one of their members,' Leonard said.
The ordinance was moved and seconded and after brief discussion passed unanimously, 9–0.
The change aims to keep committee membership at an odd number, clarify officer election language, and specify required votes to pass recommendations. Councilors said the update will let the advisory group operate without being held up by council scheduling conflicts.
