Covington County Commission approves routine grants, license, contract and surplus declarations

Procurement and surplus: The board authorized staff to solicit bids for annual right-of-way mowing and herbicide application (allowing bids that separate herbicide application from mowing) and approved declaring several engineering-department vehicles surplus — three vehicles to be sold on GovDeals and one cab enclosure to be scrapped per staff recommendation.
Pay classification: Commissioners approved a pay‑plan reclassification adjustment extending a non‑certified engineering assistant pay step progression to step 15 to accommodate internal hires who may not yet be certified.
