The foundation presented flowers to Estraa as a token of appreciation for her leadership.
Organizers and union leaders praised Estraa's tenure; Mary Gordon, president of the Norwalk Federation of Teachers, offered brief remarks thanking organizers and recognizing the district's collaborative work. Pastor and NEF leaders emphasized the community effort behind the awards and the role of volunteers in staging the event.
Estraa's remarks framed the awards as a district-wide celebration of instruction, student support and staff dedication rather than a forum for policy announcements. NEF said honorees would receive plaques from Crown Trophies and that a reception followed the program.
