The North Spencer County School Corporation board accepted several staff resignations and approved recommended appointments during its first meeting in May 2026.
The board accepted resignations submitted for Maggie Killian (Nancy Hanks teacher), Bill Madley (middle school 8th-grade boys basketball coach), Adam Leon (JV boys basketball coach), Becky Gastway (yearbook advisor), and Angie Burch (corporation test coordinator, instructional coach and media specialist). The board voted to accept the resignations as submitted.
Administrators recommended and the board approved multiple new hires and seasonal staff: Emma Wolfenberger and Kyla Le for elementary teaching roles (placements to be determined), Page Bird for a special-education elementary position, JT Smallwood for a social-studies opening at Heritage Middle School, Leila Piper as a part-time (two days/week) high-school social worker, and Gideon Hamilton for seasonal summer maintenance. The board also approved staff assignments for the summer feeding program: manager Desiree Harpic and kitchen staff Tammy Hall, Sasha Dorman, Candy Koy and Courtney Wagner, all identified as current North Spencer employees.
Administrators noted two internal transfers that did not require board action: Brooklyn Gonzalez will move from Lincoln Trail to David Turnham as a fifth-grade teacher, and Brian Oxley will transfer from the middle school to the high school to teach world history.
No votes to reject any personnel recommendations were recorded; the motions to accept resignations and approve appointments carried as presented.
