At its regular meeting the Union Board of Education approved a series of routine business items and contracts.
The board adopted the consent agenda (with item m pulled for a separate vote). The board then approved consent item m to authorize change orders for construction projects and to authorize execution of associated agreements.
The board approved proposed revisions to board policy 5,031 (graduation requirements) and policy 5,032 (weighted grade and class ranking procedures). District staff described the policy changes as a forgiveness/retake option that requires students to complete seat time and all course work in person; staff said the change is already common in other districts and anticipated the provision would be rarely used.
Personnel actions included an update to the 2025–2026 early retirement incentive (ERI) participation list after one staff member completed required state and district steps, allowing that teacher to retire through ERI.
On contracts and services, the board approved an addendum to extend the substitute staff placement agreement with ESS South Central LLC in the amount of $1,500,000 from general funds for one year; district staff reported ESS has averaged over 94% coverage and did not raise rates for the extension. The board also authorized architectural design services for a potential Bover's Elementary renovation, awarding WRA Architects Inc. $244,600 from bond funds for preliminary feasibility studies in advance of the next bond series. For an eighth-grade center grease trap relocation project, the board selected Flintco LLC as construction manager; the selection authorizes Flintco to proceed to bid the construction contract.
All motions reported in the meeting were moved, seconded and approved by roll-call vote with members present voting yes.
