Stillwater Public Schools honor retirees, names Kathy Hampton district support employee of the year

Stillwater Public Schools used part of its regular board meeting to publicly honor staff who are retiring and to recognize the district’s support‑employee award winners.
Board and district leaders read the names, roles and years of service for a long list of retirees — examples included Brett Stokes, social studies teacher (40 years); Jim Zakosski, mechanical maintenance (47 years); and many others from nutrition, facilities and teaching positions. Each retiree was thanked publicly for their service and presented with a pioneer blanket and lifetime activity pass to district athletic events.
The board also announced category winners for Support Employee of the Year and the district overall winner. The overall winner, Kathy Hampton (custodial category), was presented with a trophy donated by a business partner and the district said an additional $500 will be added to the recipient’s May 30 paycheck.
Speakers praised the honorees’ long service and impact on students and staff; the recognitions concluded before the board moved to other agenda items.
