The scope reported by district staff includes adding secure vestibules at both elementary schools, replacing tile with gym flooring in the two elementary gyms, completing classroom floor finishes and painting. The motion to award the contract passed by unanimous roll‑call vote.
Separately, the board received an extensive update on the new high school project from the district’s construction manager, Brian Thomas. Thomas reported that most interior punch‑list work is complete, temporary certificates of occupancy are anticipated, and large furniture deliveries will begin in the coming weeks. Site work, concrete pours and landscaping are largely finished; systems including a unified clock and intercom, serving lines and cabling are being installed; specialized spaces such as the culinary lab, media center and performance spaces are in final stages. The team said they expect to hand over key areas in early June, plan a public farewell for the existing high school on June 23 and anticipate a July ribbon cutting and an August community gala and open house.
Board members asked about sequencing for remaining athletics packages and noted the district will return to the board for bids and awards as those packages are ready.
