In an open‑session polling process the council advanced four candidates — Curt Hilt, Jared Irving, Gary Petershagen and Brian McManis — that received majority support from council members.
Council agreed interviews would be scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the council chamber. To reduce the risk that later candidates gain an advantage by hearing earlier answers in real time, councilors agreed not to live‑stream the interviews; recordings will be posted after each session concludes. Council also left open the option to call further interview rounds if the panel does not reach consensus after first interviews.
The council asked staff to notify candidates and to prepare the predetermined interview questions and logistics for the June 10 session. Because interviews involve candidate evaluation per RCW 42.30.110, council will move into executive session as permitted by state law to evaluate qualifications and deliberate.
