Board approves plans and bidding notice for $5.5 million PTOAC Park revitalization in District 5

The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved plans, specifications and the notice to contractors May 12 for Phase Two of the PTOAC Park revitalization in District 5.
Public Works presented the project scope, which includes a new parking area with ADA spaces, a soccer field, a fenced dog park, a new restroom building, a splash pad, a new and refurbished basketball court and accessibility improvements adjacent to the play area. Phase one of the project was completed in August 2025; staff estimated phase-two construction at just over $5.5 million and said funding includes ARPA allocations and a per-capita grant from the 2018 park bond act.
Staff outlined an anticipated schedule: bid opening June 23, award in August and construction completion planned for summer 2027. The board voted to approve the plans and proceed with the contracting process.
