Superintendent introduced Andrea to explain that RevTrak, the district’s online payment vendor, charges a 3.49% fee per transaction. Andrea said most ECA (extracurricular activity) groups — athletics, clubs and fundraisers — are currently absorbing the fee, which can undermine small fundraisers. The proposed change will let the district pass the card convenience fee to parents for ECA payments while keeping the district‑absorbed fee in place for cafeteria payments and for device repairs.
Andrea noted the district can enable or disable the convenience‑fee option for individual payment categories on the website so lunch and other essential payments are not affected. Board members asked for and received assurance that alternative payment options (cash or money order) remain available for families who prefer not to use a card. The motion to implement the RevTrak fee approach passed by voice vote.
