Gayla said the monitoring process relies on an implementation‑support rubric, data review in the state system (Achieve) and a continuous improvement protocol. The district identified disproportionality in SEB indicators and set three district goals to address the issue: (1) improve behavior documentation and consistent data usage (refining coding in Infinite Campus); (2) implement a progressive discipline framework to align responses across buildings; and (3) increase staff capacity in SEB strategies and specially designed instruction (SDI) through targeted professional development and coaching.
In response to board questions, Gayla clarified that students with IEPs will not receive separate handbooks or different disciplinary rules; the focus is equitable supports and ensuring discipline practice and monitoring do not unfairly target students who receive special education services. She explained the three‑year cycle is intended to allow time to implement and then measure outcomes for specific student cohorts.
The board thanked Gayla for the presentation and encouraged ongoing updates as the three‑year implementation and data review proceed.
