York SD1: White Hill Middle School set for 2027 opening; ag arena expected this fall

York School District 1 trustees were shown progress photos and timelines for several major facilities projects, including the new White Hill Middle School, the Western York County Agriculture Arena and upgrades to Jefferson Field.

Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Miss Amy told the board that White Hill Middle School "is scheduled to open in the summer of 2027" and noted the district purchased about 63 acres for that site. She walked trustees through aerial and site photos that show classroom wings, a media center, gym placement and secure-entry work underway.

Miss Amy said the Western York County Agriculture Arena is on a fast construction schedule and is expected to open "late fall." She described two entrances (a main entrance to the arena and a participant/ trailer entrance), meeting space, restrooms and concessions and said the building’s scale will make it a significant county facility.

On Jefferson Field, the board heard that a new playground has been installed and that shade structures, swings, picnic tables and benches are on order and expected in the next six to eight weeks; the next big planned item is a full-size basketball court. She also told the board a vendor will replace failing fitness-court tiles the week of June 22 at no cost to the district because the company is accommodating a warranty or repair arrangement.

Board members asked for continued photo updates; Miss Amy said the district will post progress on social media and the project web pages.
