"Individual community members have probably not talked to or even met other community members who wish to speak to the commission," Paul said, urging the commission to allow residents to address elected officials individually.
Rebecca Ingresol of 1214 Gracland Drive described ongoing trash problems in the Graceland subdivision and near a local dollar store, saying debris often blows into a nearby wash that feeds the city's drinking water. She suggested engaging youth groups, booster clubs or schools in adopt-a-highway or cleanup programs.
Commissioners and staff acknowledged the concern and said they and community volunteers have organized cleanups in the past; the mayor and commissioners asked staff to follow up with residents and noted specific staff already working on cleanup coordination.
