Mark and other commissioners discussed BCycle funding and timelines: the original TAP grant purchased bikes and docks, with the current vendor waiving operations and maintenance costs through the current term, but existing agreements expire in 2027. One commissioner said ridership and sponsorship levels will influence whether BCycle continues to cover O&M or whether the city must take on those costs.
Staff also noted tools for encouraging bike-share or bike parking at new developments, including transportation impact analysis (TIA) mitigation credits. Commissioners suggested adding bike parking requirements to zoning code updates rather than treating them as bonus points.
No formal commission action was taken; staff and volunteer leads will continue compiling application materials and coordinate with BCycle representatives and city departments on data and potential policy items to include.
