The Harrison Planning Commission on its May meeting approved a permit for a photography studio at 118 Harrison Avenue in the downtown redevelopment district.
Staff told the commission the proposed use is allowed under Section 1143 of the Harrison zoning regulations and that the space is properly zoned for art and photography studios. Staff recommended conditions including use of residential-style waste containers, review and approval for any future dumpster, and the requirement that any future interior or exterior improvements, landscaping, lighting or business signs obtain building- or zoning-permit review and approval.
A commissioner moved to approve the application "with the conditions stated," and the motion passed on a recorded vote with the members present voting in favor. Commissioners who spoke during the item emphasized on-street parking availability and the need for future permit compliance.
The permit approval is subject to the stated conditions; staff will enforce dumpster review and permit requirements through the Building and Zoning Department going forward.
