Board reviews draft facilities master plan; staff will return with revisions for possible March adoption

Matt Schulenberg briefed the board on the draft Apple Valley Unified facilities master plan, a multi-year consultant effort described as a draft with obvious edits remaining. Schulenberg said the consultant (Eric Holland Associates, later acquired by MGT) prepared demographic and enrollment projections, capacity and utilization analysis, stakeholder outreach summaries and a recommended project list with projected costs; supporting exhibits total about 1,100 pages and will be provided electronically.
He recommended trustees take time to review the document, offered to bring proposed edits for the board to discuss at the Feb. 6 meeting, and said staff would return to present a revised plan for consideration in March. Schulenberg emphasized that the document is a working draft, flagged cover-page dates and elected-official listings for update, and noted examples such as Apple Valley High School's gym assessment and recommended projects for each site.
Board members asked clarifying questions about exhibits and next steps; no action was taken at the meeting. Staff noted the prior district discussion of a potential general obligation bond in 2022 and explained that the master plan process began in 2021. The presentation included a plan to distribute the full exhibit materials to trustees for review before the Feb. 6 meeting.
