The Will County Board voted to authorize transfer of jurisdiction for E12000N Road (County Highway 16) in County Board District 2. The motion, made by Hickey and seconded by Freeman, passed on a roll-call vote with the members present voting in favor.
Board members clarified that the action transfers maintenance and administrative control of the roadway only and does not change the county line. According to the discussion, the other jurisdiction identified in the transcript will provide about $1.88 million toward the structure cost as part of the transfer agreement; that payment was described in the meeting record as covering “pretty much the entire cost of the structure.”
Staff said they will bring a construction contract for phase one of the corridor to the county board in approximately two to three months and that contracts will not begin until they are approved and signed by the county. The board did not amend county lines or take additional land-use action as part of the transfer.
The board approved the transfer and related motion carried.
