District staff briefed attendees on a recently completed capital study and recommended next steps, including forming a capital planning subcommittee and preparing a 20‑year master plan for potential MSBA consideration.

Samantha (presenting the capital study) said consultants from DRA produced a comprehensive analysis of building mechanical systems, accessibility and exterior/interior facilities, and provided a space utilization analysis identifying areas over‑ and under‑capacity. The study included near‑, medium‑ and long‑term recommendations and associated priorities for repair.

Staff described the next step as assembling a capital planning subcommittee that would include representatives from the school committee and potentially selectmen, town administrators and other community members. The committee would use the study to develop a master plan and, if warranted, prepare the three MSBA options that must be evaluated (renovation, renovation in place and new construction) before pursuing MSBA support.

Officials emphasized that the presentation was an overview and that detailed cost estimates and options would be developed at the subcommittee level. The district said it will solicit town feedback before advancing major capital requests.
