Committee approves six-year math curriculum contracts after DOE agrees to pay $80,000

The Blackstone-Millville School Committee voted to approve two multi-year math curriculum contracts on March 10, clearing the district to purchase a six-year K–8 program and a six-year high-school program.
Administrators explained that the K–8 option (Intuit Math) had a one-year estimate of about $85,000; through negotiation that vendor’s implementation for the district was structured as a six-year contract with no recurring consumable costs. The total six-year cost for both K–8 and high-school programs was presented as $222,484; with an $80,000 one-year Department of Education payment that will be made directly to the vendor, the district’s net required funding was stated at $142,484.
"The department of education has agreed to fund approximately eighty thousand dollars," Assistant Superintendent Matt Erinworth said. Committee members asked about updates to digital materials and whether content would be refreshed; administrators confirmed vendors provide updates and digital licenses are maintained. The package includes digital resources and hard-copy workbooks where appropriate.
The committee voted to approve spending authority for the curriculum contracts to enable procurement and training and move toward rollout and teacher professional development.
Administrators said they would continue to monitor training needs as materials come online and may request additional, limited funding for extra staff training later, should the district identify such needs.
