County naturalist to lead trail talk at Altamaha Town Heritage Preserve

Beaufort County announced a two-hour trail talk at Altamaha Town Heritage Preserve from 10:00 a.m. to noon, led by Beaufort County naturalist Destiny Rains. The walk will focus on the different environments in Beaufort County and the wildlife that inhabits them, Chloe G said.
The bulletin described the preserve as a 100-acre oak-hickory forest along the Okatie and Colleton Rivers that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994 and co-purchased by the county and the state in 2004 to preserve archaeological resources, including remnants of a Yemassee village and a colonial-era cemetery. Dogs on leashes are welcome.
