North Olmsted Council adopts bid solicitations for Old Town Hall, Dover Center Road resurfacing and other measures

The North Olmsted City Council on April 15 unanimously approved a slate of administrative measures, including authorizing bid advertisements for renovation and roadwork and accepting an equipment donation for a public park.

Council adopted Resolution 2025-26, directing the Director of Economic and Community Development to advertise for bids for Phase One of the Old Town Hall Renovation Project. The motion to adopt was made by Councilwoman Hemann and seconded by Councilman Scarl; the measure passed by a 7-0 roll call vote.

Council also approved Resolution 2025-27, authorizing advertisement for bids to resurface Dover Center Road from Mill Road to the northern corporate line. Councilwoman Gilchrist moved to adopt the resolution; Councilman Madden seconded and the resolution passed 7-0.

Ordinance 2025-28, allowing the Finance Director to execute "Then and Now" certificates and authorize payment of amounts due on various purchase orders, was adopted after a motion by Councilman Scarl and a second from Councilman Limpert; the roll call vote was 7-0.

Separately, Councilman Shymske moved to suspend the three-reading rule and adopt Resolution 2025-34 to accept an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) donated by the North Olmsted Soccer Organization for Barton Bradley Park (the AED’s donation value was listed as $2,312). The suspension and adoption votes each passed 7-0. Council members said the equipment will be kept at the park to meet state requirements for facility coverage.

The measures approved were routine authorizations for procurement, public-safety equipment, and capital project planning; none carried recorded dissent. The Council recessed for additional first- and second-reading items and scheduled committee meetings for later this month before adjourning at 8:02 p.m.
