Millville well pilot equipment installed; inspection and cleaning scheduled before turn‑on

Jennifer Steel, identified as vice chair and water liaison for the Millville board of selectmen, told the school committee the installation of new treatment equipment at the Millville Elementary well is complete and the district is preparing inspection and cleaning steps before the system is turned on.
"The installation of the equipment is complete and there'll be an engineering review of the installation by September 19th — McClure engineering will make sure that it looks like the diagram that was approved by Mass D," Steel said. She described a planned well cleaning the week of Sept. 26–30, including removal of the pump to clean the down‑hole pipe intended to limit total organic carbon in the water.
Steel and other selectmen explained that Mass D (as referenced in the meeting) will perform an inspection on its schedule; district staff said Mass D availability may add one to two weeks before final approval to turn on the new technology. The project was described as a one‑year pilot with an initial intensive testing schedule followed by ongoing testing protocols that Mccclure Engineering and Mass D are finalizing.
Committee members asked that the district be notified of material test results; selectmen agreed to send email updates to the superintendent and committee chair and to return to the committee with any major findings. No formal vote was required at this update.
