District to submit Preferred Schematic Report for proposed 7–12 building; MSBA decision expected Feb. 25

MSBA will review the PSR and the district expects a decision on whether it advances to the next phase on Feb. 25.
Staff emphasized the need for broader community outreach to explain the proposed design and the MSBA process. Committee members discussed low turnout at recent forums and proposed more targeted outreach—senior centers, libraries, community groups and presenting at events where parents already gather—to increase public engagement before MSBA makes a determination.
If MSBA allows the project to advance, the district would move into design phases that could affect timelines and capital planning. Staff said they would continue to hold forums and distribute materials to inform residents about next steps and timelines.
