Committee ramps up outreach ahead of fall vote; member resigns and required slots must be filled

The project’s community engagement working group described a schedule of outreach events intended to inform residents ahead of the MSBA submission and the fall referendum, and the committee announced an internal vacancy that must be filled to meet MSBA representation requirements.

Engagement plans include a presentation at the Millville Senior Center on April 13, a Blackstone senior-center session on June 4, tabling at family nights and the high-school District of One event, distribution of brochures at spring sporting events and using student-athlete volunteers where appropriate, and the possibility of a booth at Blackstone’s 250th celebration in July. The team will circulate a sign-up tool for committee members to staff outreach slots and said the project web page will be updated and shared with town clerks for posting.

Separately, the committee announced it received a resignation letter from Mary Bolster, who had served as the committee’s MCPPO-certified member and held roles MSBA identifies among required representatives. The project team said they must identify replacements for several required categories (an MCPPO-certified member; an official authorized by law to represent the office that constructs school buildings; and a community member with architect/engineering/construction experience) and will update MSBA as positions are filled.

The committee emphasized the importance of visible presence at community events to build support ahead of the vote and asked members to sign up for outreach shifts.
