At its April 14 meeting the San Bernardino City Unified Board of Education approved a set of routine and specific action items, including grant and procurement approvals.
The board approved an agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) related to the Inflation Reduction Act grant program for Parkside Elementary in the amount of $1.5 million. The motion passed by roll-call vote.
In closed-session reports, the board adopted a settlement agreement (J-25426-1) and approved several HR actions, including items labeled HR-CLASH-25-26-1 and HR-SERT-25-26-15, and adopted a job description for a Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) TK—12 director. The board also accepted hearing-panel recommendations and ordered expulsions of named students in accordance with Education Code provisions; several discipline items were approved following public notice and hearing panel findings.
The board approved a purchase of five tickets for the Time for Change Foundation gala (total $1,000), and authorized an $89,250 agreement with Team Civ X LLC. The consent calendar, containing grouped routine items, was approved in a single roll-call vote.
No board reversals or policy adoptions tied directly to CSEA's public comments were recorded; the board requested a staff update on the union concerns at the next Friday update.
Motions and votes were taken throughout the late-afternoon and evening session; most items passed on majority roll call.
