Northshore Health Department presents 2025 annual report; highlights outreach, inspections and harm‑reduction work

Becky, speaking for the Northshore Health Department, presented the department’s 2025 annual report and highlighted outreach, inspections and prevention work across the seven communities the department serves.
She said the department’s small team — 11 staff — supports roughly 70,000 residents and emphasized continued work on communicable‑disease investigations, emergency preparedness and data‑driven programming. Staff reported that public health nurses managed 826 reportable cases and confirmed 288 sexually transmitted infections during the year; the department also tracked about 34 vectorborne illnesses and increased case management for hepatitis and food‑ and waterborne outbreaks.
The department said it distributed naloxone and trained hundreds of residents on overdose response; it also distributed test strips for fentanyl and xylazine detection and expanded radon outreach and a truck program for household hazardous‑waste collection. Staff noted 534 inspections and 136 reinspections during the year and characterized the work as increasingly resource‑intensive as staff respond to higher demand across program areas.
Becky credited staff and named Tanya Boach and Reed Ross for compiling the report and highlighted regional emergency‑preparedness partnerships and improved communications. The report is available on the department website and staff said they will submit it to the state as part of routine departmental leveling.
