The Rutherford County Board of Zoning Appeals approved two temporary special-exception requests to allow seasonal fireworks sales at two commercial sites.
Application 202613 would permit Sure Fireworks to operate a 40-by-30-foot tent at 6044 Lebanon Pike (a convenience store/gas station) from June 20 through July 5, with proposed hours of 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., two employees on site and temporary signage up to 32 square feet. Planning staff told the board the request "meets the criteria for temporary special exception" and recommended approval. The board motion to approve carried on a roll-call vote with unanimous yes votes.
Application 202614 would allow Sure Fireworks to erect a 30-by-60-foot tent at 6858 Las Cases Pike (a Dollar General site) for June 20–July 5; staff again recommended approval, noting vendor changes and prior administrative processing at other sites. The board opened and closed the public hearings with no opposing speakers and approved the special exception by unanimous roll-call vote.
Both approvals included the staff comments and conditions typical for temporary seasonal sales (site layout, tent size and hours). The approvals clear the way for the stands to operate in accordance with the conditions the board accepted.
Votes were recorded by roll call for each item and passed with all members voting yes.
