North Plat council approves consent agenda, funds park shelter and fueling-system replacement

The North Plat City Council approved its consent agenda on April 7, adopting routine minutes, financial filings and several local permits while removing two items for separate discussion.
Council authorized using $38,338 in so-called newborn funds to finance concrete for a 40-by-60 park shelter at Cody Park. Planning staff told the council they solicited bids and selected the lowest responsive contractor; the council discussed pad depth (three feet for the footings) and potential dewatering needed during excavation.
The council also authorized the mayor to negotiate and sign all documents for Midwest Petroleum Equipment’s proposal to replace the public service fueling system at a cost listed in the packet as $362,635. Staff said the replacement is part of necessary maintenance for the public service department.
Other approved items on the consent agenda included appointments to the North Plat Tree Board (Jim Connley, Ron Meyer, Mary Shim and John Guchin Writer), approval of special designated liquor licenses for upcoming community events and acceptance of the treasurer’s February 2026 report. The council approved the consent agenda as amended after removing and separately approving items H and I.
The motions were made and seconded on the floor; the mayor called the question and the measures passed. Council members asked staff to track final bid documents and confirmed the city will oversee installation details for the park shelter.
