BENTON CITY — A resident used the public-comment period at the April 7 Benton City Council meeting to report what they called incomplete work at a Sixth Street duplex project and to urge city follow-up.
The resident said the builder has been "slowly putting things in" and that frontage work required by code had not been completed, that fence lines had been moved and that weeds were now growing outside the fence. The speaker asked for city action to ensure the work is finished and to stop the situation from being allowed to persist.
In response a council member said staff will invite Steve (city staff) to the next meeting and stated that no certificate of occupancy will be issued for the project until the frontage issues are addressed, citing the city's mandatory frontage requirements. The council asked staff to follow up and to report back at the next session.
